The Easter egg hunt has always been a bit of a myth for me; I never experienced them in my childhood. I know – tragic.
So when Cadbury invited me to their #CrackIntoTheCreme Easter egg hunt (which is like the equivalent of getting invited by Santa Claus to a Christmas party by the way) I was excited like a kid who just found out they were going to Disney!
The event took place at the Artscape Youngplace at Queen/Shaw, a space that is “devoted to artistic creation, learning, and collaboration.”
The crew from Singhnature did a great job setting up the venue. Upon entering we were told to grab a pail and start filling them up with as many Cadbury Crème eggs as we could, but there were also several plastic eggs and a few of them led to cash prizes and Cadbury gift baskets.
There were some 1,000+ eggs scattered around the space and some required some serious tact to get to. Case and point is pictured below.
While children are easily lured by chocolate, adults seem to be attracted to bright, shiny objects. Enclosed behind a glass case with a hole that only a mouse or hamster could fit into, many of us were intrigued and determined to engineer a way to obtain the golden egg. Things like belts and camera straps worked to no avail, but then we got a hold of a coat hanger and mission accomplished. Cue the wah-wah-wah moment as things that are too good to be true generally are – the golden egg was not a winner.
Tunes were spun courtesy of HRLD. Drinks included Steam Whistle beer and wine. I don’t know at what age one generally stops having Easter egg hunts – I vote for never.
My BFF and I were lucky bunnies as we ended up nabbing the top 2 prizes of $100 AMEX card as well as a large basket of Cadbury chocolate.
Many thanks to Cadbury Canada and Singhnature for my very first Easter egg hunt! I think it’s fair to say I’ve made up for lost times π
